MAXWELL-Donald L. Jacobson, 70, of Maxwell died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from injuries sustained May 10, 2006 from a farm accident.

Don was born April 13, 1936 near Maxwell, Iowa the son of Leonard and Mary (Swarm) Jacobson. Don graduated from Maxwell High School in 1954 and attended College at Iowa State. He was united in marriage to Helen Higginbottom on October 16, 1955 in Elkhart, Iowa. Don loved his family and being with them. Don was a farmer who enjoyed old tractors, his livestock and going fishing. He was a member of the Maxwell United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, Herald Lodge No. 445 A.F & A.M. of Maxwell. Don had served for over 12 years on the Maxwell/Collins School Board and also for many years on the Consumer Energy Electric Board.

Don is survived by his wife, Helen of Maxwell; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Larry and Sandy Jacobson of Maxwell, IA, Dan and Sally Jacobson of Bend, OR, Dave and Claudia Jacobson of Sau Paulo, Brazil; John Jacobson of Maxwell, IA; and 5 grandchildren: Amanda Jacobson, Josh Jacobson, Elizabeth Jacobson, Nathaniel Jacobson and Luca Jacobson.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Leonardo Jacobson.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday, May 20th, at the Maxwell United Methodist Church with Rev. Dean Kelly officiating. Masonic services will follow. Burial will be in the Peoria Cemetery near Maxwell.

Visitation will be 1:00 -8:00 pm Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. The family will be present at the funeral home to greet friends and relatives 6:30-8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donald L. Jacobson Memorial Fund.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
