Melissa Viers, 28, of Colo, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Melissa was born May 29, 1983, in Ames. She graduated valedictorian from Collins-Maxwell High School in 2001, and then attended Buena-Vista College, graduating with honors in elementary education in 2005. On July 14, 2005, Melissa was united in marriage to James Viers in Maxwell; to this union three children were born: Abigail, Wyatt and Josiah. Family was first to Melissa; she loved being a mom.

Melissa is survived by her husband, James; her three children, Abigail, Wyatt and Josiah; her dad and his wife, Todd (Kim) Flynn of State Center; her mom and her husband, Deb (Mike) Mitchell of Collins; her grandparents, Galen and Jackie Flynn of Colo, Les and Marlene Anderson of Nevada and Bob and Mary Ann Gardner of Nevada; her half-brother, Chance Flynn of State Center; her sister, Amanda (Heath) Muhlbauer of McCallsburg; her half sister, Jamie Flynn of State Center; her step sisters, Casey Allison of Ames, Danni and Lacey Mitchell of Indianola; her nephews, Carter and Lincoln; and her niece, Adalynn.

Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, also at Memorial Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Melissa's family.

Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
