Lila Hughes

Lila Hughes, 82, of Cambridge, formerly of Missouri Valley, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Lila was born June 3, 1929, in Fremont County, Iowa to Arthur Foster and Jessie Isom. She graduated from Tabor High School in 1946, and married Louis Hughes in Hiawatha, Kansas on January 25, 1947. Lila graduated from Morningside College in 1963 with her B.S. degree and was a school teacher, retiring from Logan-Magnolia School District. Lila was an avid reader and quilter.

Lila is survived by her son, Michael (Crystal) Hughes of Cambridge; her granddaughter, Haylie Hughes and her fiancé Josh Duben of Waterloo, IA; her sisters, Elaine Leicester of Colorado, Retha McGinnis of Glenwood, IA and Marcella (Newt) Heaton of Farragut, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband in December of 2008 and her parents.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.
